Half day Tour from Fushimi Inari Shrine to Nishiki Market
This family oriented 5-hour tour takes you to the four most popular tourist attractions of Kyoto.
Fushimi Inari → Kiyomizu Temple → Nishiki market → Gion
We’ll begin our tour at Kyoto’s most popular destination. Fushimi Inari is characterized by thousands of red torii gates lining a mountainous road. This picturesque location has been featured in the 2005 blockbuster movie, Memoirs of a Geisha. After hiking up the gently winding road, you’ll be treated to an impeccable view of the city.
We’ll return to Kyoto and explore Kiyomizu Temple. The name Kiyomizu (清水寺) means clear or pure water, and true to its name, you can sample the water here. The water pours out of the mountain side in three streams which are said to have wish-granting powers for academic achievement, success in love, and longevity.
Next, we’ll go to downtown Kyoto and stroll through Nishiki market. Nishiki market, known as Kyoto’s kitchen, is a long stretch of covered shops where local ingredients are abundant. As Kyoto city is landlocked, some of the most famed ingredients in Kyoto are vegetables, tea and tofu.
Afterwards, we will walk around Gion’s Hanami Koji area. This area is an ancient Geisha district, and truly captures the essence of Kyoto.
